Master in Law

The International Business Law and Arbitration program is a master's degree in Law offered by the University of Silesia in Katowice, in Katowice, Poland, taught in English over two years, or four semesters. Yearly tuition is set at PLN 7100. The program is designed to prepare specialists in international business law and arbitration, structured around four main thematic blocks: General Courses, Business Law, Mediation and Arbitration, and Special Courses made up of monographic lectures and tutorials. Within the General Courses block, students study the basics of jurisprudence, commercial law, arbitration law, international law, and EU law, with particular emphasis on the common market, alongside property law (including intellectual property law), contract law, private international law, and labour law. The Business Law block covers the principles of conducting business activity in the EU, the rules governing entrepreneurs' operation on the capital market, public-private partnership, and the mechanisms behind the execution of contracts, and also introduces standards for human rights protection in business, including personal data protection, and CSR. The Mediation and Arbitration block is devoted entirely to the resolution of international business disputes, both between entrepreneurs and between the state and the investor, covering both the legal standards of mediation and arbitration and the skill of drafting contracts that are the basis for dispute resolution. This structure suits graduates aiming for careers in international commercial law, arbitration practice, corporate legal departments, or dispute resolution bodies. Delivered in English at a major Polish public university in Katowice, the program combines academic legal training with the practical mechanics of resolving cross-border business disputes.
