Bachelor in Licence - Arts plastiques

For Bachelor in Licence - Arts plastiques, tuition costs 178 EUR per year.

The Licence - Arts plastiques at the Université de Montpellier Paul-Valéry in Montpellier, France, is a three-year bachelor's program taught in French with annual tuition of 178 EUR and a September start. Arts plastiques (visual arts or plastic arts) programs combine studio practice with theoretical and critical study of art. Students work across drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, and digital media while developing an understanding of art history, aesthetics, and contemporary art discourse. Coursework typically includes both practical production—working in studio contexts—and written analysis drawing on art theory, philosophy, and cultural studies. The discipline asks students to reflect on their own creative practice and to situate it within broader historical and critical frameworks. This dual orientation—making and thinking—distinguishes arts plastiques from more purely technical or purely theoretical approaches to art education. Graduates pursue careers in the visual arts, arts education, cultural mediation, gallery and museum work, graphic design, illustration, and communication. Many continue to master's programs in arts and the fine arts, arts education, or curatorial and cultural heritage studies. Montpellier is an active cultural city with museums, galleries, and arts events that provide context for study in the visual arts. The annual tuition of 178 EUR reflects the French regulated public university fee for this degree.
