The Licence — Mathématiques (Bachelor's degree in Mathematics) at Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France in Famars, France is a three-year bachelor-level program delivered in French, with classes starting each September. Annual tuition is 178 EUR. Mathematics at degree level covers both pure and applied branches of the discipline. Students typically study analysis, algebra, probability, statistics, geometry, numerical methods, and mathematical logic, progressively developing the capacity for formal proof and abstract reasoning. In many French mathematics programs, the later years introduce optional modules that orient students toward either pure research or applied directions such as statistics, financial mathematics, or mathematics for teaching. A Licence in mathematics opens paths toward master's and doctoral programs in pure or applied mathematics, statistics, theoretical computer science, or physics. It also qualifies graduates to pursue teacher training for secondary education through the competitive CAPES examination. In the private sector, graduates find roles in data analysis, actuarial work, quantitative finance, and operations research. Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France serves the Valenciennes area and the Hauts-de-France region more broadly. The Famars campus provides access to a university mathematics department within a polytechnic institution that also houses engineering and technology programs, creating opportunities for interdisciplinary coursework and applied mathematical applications during the three-year degree.
