Bachelor in Licence - Mathématiques

For Bachelor in Licence - Mathématiques, tuition fees are 178 EUR per year.

Mathematics at university level covers the rigorous study of abstract structures, quantitative reasoning, and the formal methods that underpin science, engineering, and economics. A Licence Mathématiques typically spans three broad areas: analysis (real and complex functions, sequences, differential equations), algebra (linear algebra, group theory, polynomial structures), and probability and statistics. Students progressively develop proof-writing skills, abstract thinking, and the capacity to model and solve complex problems using formal mathematical tools. Alongside core theoretical training, the degree usually includes introductory work in numerical methods and scientific computing, as well as applications to physics, economics, or other quantitative disciplines depending on the programme's orientation. Mathematical rigour and logical precision are central to the pedagogical approach throughout the three years. Career destinations for mathematics graduates are varied. Some move directly into roles in actuarial science, finance, data analysis, software development, or engineering; others enter teaching through a professional qualification route; and many continue to a master's or doctoral programme in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field. This Licence Mathématiques is offered at Université de Caen Normandie in Caen, in the Normandy region of northern France. The degree lasts 3 years, begins in September, and all teaching is in French. Annual tuition is 178 EUR.
