Bachelor in Licence - Mathématiques

Tuition is 178 EUR per year.

The Licence - Mathématiques (Mathematics) at Université d'Artois - Site de Lens in Lens, France is a three-year bachelor-level degree taught entirely in French, beginning in September. Yearly tuition is 178 EUR. Mathematics degrees develop strong abstract reasoning and analytical problem-solving skills through a systematic study of the discipline's central domains. Students engage with algebra, real and complex analysis, linear algebra, topology, probability theory, statistics, and discrete mathematics, acquiring the ability to construct rigorous proofs and to work confidently with formal mathematical structures. Alongside purely theoretical content, students are introduced to numerical analysis and mathematical modelling, connecting abstract methods to scientific and engineering applications. The training in logical thinking and precise argumentation that a mathematics degree provides is valued across many sectors well beyond the discipline itself. Common career directions for graduates include data science, actuarial science, finance and investment, insurance, statistical analysis in industry or public health, and secondary school teaching, the latter typically requiring a further professional qualification. Many students continue with a Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or an applied quantitative field such as financial mathematics or mathematical modelling, while some pursue doctoral research. The programme's location at the Lens campus of Université d'Artois offers a public university setting with yearly tuition of 178 EUR.
