Bachelor in Licence - Philosophie

Tuition comes to 178 EUR per year.

The Licence - Philosophie (Philosophy) at the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne in Reims, France, is a three-year bachelor-level degree conducted in French, starting each September, with annual tuition of 178 EUR. Philosophy is the systematic study of fundamental questions about knowledge, reality, existence, ethics, and the nature of mind and society. Students engage with the history of philosophy from ancient Greece through the modern and contemporary periods, reading and discussing the major works of thinkers whose arguments continue to shape intellectual life and public debate. Core areas of study include metaphysics and ontology, epistemology and philosophy of science, ethics and political philosophy, logic and argumentation, and philosophy of language and mind. Alongside historical survey, students develop the ability to construct and evaluate philosophical arguments with rigour and precision — a skill that transfers readily to law, policy, journalism, education, and management. The programme requires close reading of difficult primary texts and sustained practice in structured academic writing, producing graduates who can think clearly, write well, and reason under pressure. Career paths include teaching at secondary level (following further qualification), research, publishing, journalism, law, public policy, the civil service, human resources, and consulting. The licence is the standard entry point for master's degrees in philosophy, ethics, cognitive science, history of ideas, or education. All instruction is in French.
