Master in MA Interpreting (top up)

Every student can undertake a professional development work placement, a short-term, structured experience that is linked to coursework and assessment. Placements may be in-person, remote, hybrid or virtual and focus on real-world tasks such as research, translation or interpreting projects with an external organisation.

The programme runs part-time over one year and culminates in a 60-credit dissertation that develops research design, data collection and analysis skills. Weekly you will attend seminars, complete reading, and work on the dissertation under supervision while also engaging with industry-informed modules that reflect current interpreting practice. An extended induction familiarises you with university resources, and a structured learning pathway guides you through core and optional sessions that build communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities. Assessment combines coursework, reflective journals and the final dissertation, ensuring a blend of practical and academic evaluation.
