    About PhD in Management

Tuition fees are 3,000 EUR per year.

The University of Warsaw's Faculty of Management offers a PhD programme in Management, based in Warszawa, Poland, and structured to run for three years, or six semesters. The Faculty holds the right to confer doctoral degrees in both economics and management, and the curriculum comprises four hundred hours of coursework divided into four modules of similar length. The first module covers methodology, including the general methodology of scientific research, qualitative research methods for organizations, and the use of statistical methods, alongside practical workshops that prepare students to write their doctoral thesis. The second module consists of lectures updating the foundations of economic knowledge, covering the history of economics, macro- and microeconomics, organization theory, and current issues in management. The third module offers specialized lectures on current topics in economics and management, run separately for PhD students working on theses in economics and those working on theses in management. The fourth module is made up of short, four-hour seminars led by domestic and international experts, with topics chosen each year based on students' interests. Notably, the Faculty of Management does not currently offer PhD programmes conducted in English, meaning international students prepare their theses on an individual basis, with personal consultations with a supervisor forming the foundation of the thesis-writing process. This structure reflects a doctoral education model built around methodological training, updated economic theory, specialization, and mentorship, common to management and economics PhD programmes preparing graduates for academic and research careers.
