Master of Science in Data Science

For Master of Science in Data Science, tuition is No tuition fees; 320 EUR/semester.

The Master of Science in Data Science at TU Dortmund University is a joint programme of the Departments of Statistics, Computer Science, and Mathematics. It builds on a foundation of sound statistical and mathematical theory while teaching contemporary methods for working with large-scale data. The programme runs over 4 semesters and is open for entry in both the winter and summer semester. A key feature is that it does not include a dedicated review semester for foundational topics; incoming students are expected to arrive with solid prior knowledge. The curriculum places particular emphasis on advanced statistics and the development of underlying statistical theory. Advanced modules cover topics such as statistical learning, big data analysis, and the application of methods in specific fields through case studies, seminars, and elective courses. Internships, project-based courses, and the Master's thesis provide opportunities to apply knowledge in practice. Students are required to complete a statistics project and submit a 10-page report as part of the admission process; admission is based on the quality of that report. The programme is offered at TU Dortmund University in Dortmund, Germany.
