Master of Teaching (Primary)

Primary teaching examines how young learners acquire language, numeracy, scientific reasoning and social skills, and how diversity influences classroom practice. The Master of Teaching (Primary) builds on this understanding, preparing graduates to design inclusive lessons and assess progress across the full range of primary subjects.

Designed for graduates from non-teaching backgrounds who wish to qualify as primary school teachers.

The programme runs over two years full-time (or part-time equivalent). From the first month students undertake professional experience blocks, accumulating 60 days (420 hours) of school-based practice, including an optional rural placement. Core coursework covers English, mathematics, science & technology, creative arts, personal development, health & physical education, and human society & its environment. Learning is supported by on-campus tutorials, pre-recorded lectures, in-school activities and workshops on communication, technology-enhanced learning and assessment design.
