Master's: Advanced Quantum Physics

The Master's in Advanced Quantum Physics at RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau covers matter and energy at atomic and sub-atomic scales, combining theoretical understanding with experimental training. Core areas include non-linear and quantum optics, ultra-cold quantum gases, quantum technology, advanced quantum mechanics, many-body quantum phenomena, and quantum information processing. The programme is structured around three main modules. The Quantum Technologies module covers the basics of quantum technology and enabling technologies such as quantum optics and photonics, closely linked to advanced laboratory courses. The Many-Body Quantum Systems module addresses theoretical and experimental aspects of quantum correlations and many-body systems. The Laboratory Courses module provides hands-on training with state-of-the-art equipment through one- or two-week projects in data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation. The programme concludes with a research module and Master's thesis, during which students join a theoretical or experimental research group. The programme runs over 4 semesters and accepts students in both winter and summer semesters. German and English language courses are available within the programme.
