The Master's Program in Medical Sciences, offered by Juntendo University with autumn enrollment as a degree program taught entirely in English, runs two years and is based in Tokyo, with intake in October. Juntendo's institutional identity centers on the motto jin, meaning benevolence, paired with a guiding principle of continuously moving forward and a school culture described as sanmu shugi, the three-noes principle, covering non-discrimination on the basis of gender, nationality, or academic background. The university is organized as a comprehensive health institution with seven undergraduate faculties, three graduate schools, and six affiliated hospitals, spanning education, research, medical care, and the liberal arts. This master's program covers foundational and applied medical sciences, typically including subjects such as physiology, pharmacology, molecular medicine, epidemiology, and biomedical research methods, aimed at students preparing for research careers or further clinical and academic training. Students generally combine coursework with a research project conducted under faculty supervision, often connected to laboratories or clinical departments within Juntendo's broader health science structure, including access to its affiliated hospitals for clinical or translational research contexts. Graduates of medical sciences master's programs commonly continue into doctoral study, move into biomedical and pharmaceutical research roles, or take up positions in public health, health policy, or laboratory science. The two-year format allows time for both coursework and a supervised research project. Autumn enrollment in October gives applicants an alternative to the standard April start, useful for those coordinating their move to Tokyo around prior academic or visa timelines, or transitioning from a different country's academic calendar.
