About Master in Mathematical Modelling, Simulation and Optimisation (MSc)

At University of Koblenz, the application deadline is 15 Dec · 15 Jun.

The Master's in Mathematical Modelling, Simulation and Optimisation at the University of Koblenz is a two-year English-taught programme focused on advanced techniques for modelling, simulating, and optimising complex systems with technological, biological, or socio-economic backgrounds. Rather than producing specialists in a narrow field, the programme aims to train graduates with a broad repertoire of modern mathematical and computer-based methods applicable to real-world problems. The programme runs over 4 semesters. The first three semesters combine compulsory courses in applied differential equations, numerics for partial differential equations, and optimisation with a substantial set of elective courses drawn from mathematics, physics, and computer-based methods. A project seminar bridges theory and application by having students work in small teams on real-world problems; this seminar can be carried out over three months at a research institution, enterprise, or at the university. A mobility window allows students to study abroad at international partner universities. The final semester is devoted to the Master's thesis, in which students work independently on a modelling and simulation problem. The programme accepts students in both winter and summer semesters and is based at the University of Koblenz in Koblenz, Germany.
