The MSc in Mathematical Physics at the University of Tübingen is an interdisciplinary programme spanning four semesters that bridges advanced mathematics and fundamental physical theory. Rather than covering the full breadth of the field, the programme takes a focused approach by concentrating on established physical theories with concrete applications in science and technology. The main areas of study are quantum theory, general relativity, and statistical physics, reflecting the active research directions of the Mathematics and Physics Departments. Students complete mandatory core modules in Geometry in Physics, Mathematical Quantum Theory, Mathematical Relativity, and Mathematical Statistical Physics. Alongside these, a wide range of advanced courses in mathematics, theoretical physics, and mathematical physics allows students to specialise according to their own interests. During the second year, a dedicated mathematical physics colloquium provides exposure to recent developments in the field and gives students the opportunity to present their own Master's thesis research. The programme is taught in English and begins in the winter semester. It is designed for students who already hold a solid grounding in both mathematics and physics and who want to develop advanced competence at the intersection of the two disciplines.
