Makine Mühendisliği

Mechanical Engineering studies the design, analysis, and manufacturing of mechanical systems, spanning areas such as thermodynamics, mechanics, materials science, and manufacturing processes. Coursework typically includes statics and dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, manufacturing processes, and control systems, supported by mathematics and physics fundamentals. Students gain practical experience through laboratory work and design projects involving mechanical systems, preparing them for careers in manufacturing, automotive and aerospace industries, energy systems, product design, and industrial equipment engineering. This 4 year bachelor program is taught in English at Istanbul Bilgi University in Istanbul, Turkey, a city with a diverse industrial and manufacturing base relevant to mechanical engineering practice. Over the four years, students generally move from foundational mathematics, physics, and mechanics courses toward specialized topics such as machine design, thermodynamics, and manufacturing systems, often including design and build projects that apply theoretical concepts to physical systems. Hands-on laboratory sessions involving materials testing, machining, or mechanical system analysis are a standard part of the curriculum. English-medium instruction is relevant given that much of the technical standards and international engineering practice in mechanical engineering is documented in English. The program at Istanbul Bilgi University combines engineering theory with applied design skills, and this record corresponds to a separate program intake.
