About the Program

In Year 3, students complete a Medical Device Design module worth 20 credits, where they design a functional biomedical device and test it in the university lab. Throughout the programme you attend lectures, tutorials and hands-on laboratory sessions, and work on integrated design projects that develop both mechanical engineering and biomedical knowledge.

Weekly you will study core mechanical subjects such as Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Mechatronics, while also covering specialised topics like Musculoskeletal Biomechanics and Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering. Projects and group design studies give you experience of teamwork, problem-solving and the commercial, legal and safety considerations of developing medical technologies.

Graduates receive a Bachelor of Engineering degree recognised in the UAE and by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
