Istanbul Okan University

Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering

İstanbul, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Mechanical Engineering covers the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems, spanning machines, engines, thermal systems, and manufacturing processes. Students study statics and dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, machine design, manufacturing methods, and control systems, along with mathematics and computer-aided design tools used throughout the profession. The curriculum typically builds from core physics and mathematics toward applied subjects such as heat transfer, mechanical vibrations, and mechanical design projects that require students to plan, model, and test working components. Graduates find roles in manufacturing, automotive and aerospace industries, energy systems, HVAC and building services, and product design, or continue into graduate study in mechanical or industrial engineering. The broad foundation of the discipline also supports movement into adjacent fields such as robotics, automation, and materials engineering, and many graduates move between these related areas over the course of their careers depending on industry demand. This program is a 4 year bachelor's degree taught in English at Istanbul Okan University in Istanbul, Turkey. English-medium instruction allows students to study using internationally used engineering textbooks, software, and design standards. Alongside lecture-based coursework, students complete laboratory work and design projects intended to develop hands-on competence with mechanical systems, preparing graduates for entry into Turkey's manufacturing and engineering sector as well as international engineering careers.
