Bachelor in Mechatronics Engineering

Mechatronics Engineering combines mechanical engineering, electronics, computer science, and control engineering to design and build automated and intelligent systems, from robotic arms to embedded control systems. Students study mechanics, electrical circuits, digital electronics, microcontrollers, sensors and actuators, control theory, and programming, learning to integrate hardware and software into functioning mechatronic systems. The curriculum typically includes laboratory work with robotics platforms, automation equipment, and programmable controllers, alongside mathematics and general engineering foundations. Graduates work in robotics and automation companies, manufacturing plants that rely on automated production lines, consumer electronics firms, and research and development departments, or continue into graduate study in robotics, control systems, or electrical engineering. Because the field draws on multiple engineering disciplines, graduates are often well positioned for interdisciplinary roles that require both hardware and software competence, and the discipline continues to grow as more industries adopt automated processes. This program is a 4 year bachelor's degree taught in English at Istanbul Okan University in Istanbul, Turkey. Studying in English gives students access to the international literature, tools, and standards used across robotics and automation industries. The program pairs theoretical coursework with hands-on laboratory and project work involving sensors, controllers, and automated systems, preparing graduates for roles in Turkey's growing automation sector as well as international opportunities.
