Master in Mechatronics Msc Degree

Tuition is 18,600 GBP per year.

Step into the specialized robotics laboratory at De Montfort University and you will find everything from small-scale Dobot Magician arms to industrial-grade collaborative robots (cobots) like the Franka Emika. This programme is built around such hands-on, high-tech environments, designed to transform engineers from single-discipline backgrounds into versatile professionals capable of navigating the complex, integrated landscapes of modern mechatronics.

By bridging the gap between mechanical, electrical, and software engineering, this course directly addresses critical skill shortages in both Western and developing industrial economies. You will work within the school's Institute of Engineering Sciences, where teaching is informed by active research and industrial consultancy. Whether you are performing tensile testing in the materials science laboratory or analyzing engine emissions in a purpose-built test cell, the curriculum emphasizes the practical application of theory to real-world products and systems.

A Flexible, Student-Centered Structure

The course utilizes an innovative block-teaching model, allowing you to focus on one module at a time. This structure provides a more balanced study-life rhythm and clearer assessment cycles, supported by access to industry-standard software such as CREO and AUTODESK Simulation for finite element modelling. Students also have the option to pursue a year-long work placement, further bridging the gap between academic study and the professional requirements of sectors like aerospace, automation, and energy.
