📚 About the Program

Media technology is a natural part of and has great importance in our lives. The web forms an important part of the media technology with which we interact. Via the web, we can educate ourselves, contact each other, buy goods that were previously unobtainable and maybe even find our life partner. In this training you will learn about three different aspects of web development: programming, design and critical thinking. Programming is about writing instructions that a computer can execute. It is based on logical thinking, problem solving and creativity. In this education, we focus on programming for the web, and it is mainly during the first two semesters that this is taught. Design is about creating interfaces that are user-friendly and functional. It is based on empathy (your ability to understand the users and how they see the world), creativity and a feeling for the graphic. In the training, we focus on creating interfaces on the web: websites, web pages and web apps. Design is mainly taught during the third semester. Since you learned to program during the two previous semesters, you will in this phase be able to implement your design ideas on the web. Critical thinking is about understanding the world around you by learning to select the information that is valuable and analyze it to draw useful conclusions. In this program we focus on an understanding of the media technology that surrounds us. The goal of the program is to give you as complete an understanding of web development as possible. This also gives you good conditions for all other types of development, such as native applications. With these knowledge and skills, you will be very attractive on the job market. The program makes no special requirements in terms of prior knowledge. You who have basic qualifications are welcome to apply, regardless of previous experience. During the second and third years of the education, you will have the opportunity to specialize based on your own interests. The optional courses can be about project management, specific types of design, web development or something else entirely that you want to learn more about. You can also do an internship at a company or in an organization. As the fifth semester is completely optional, it also gives you the opportunity to study abroad. Malmö University has collaborations with many partner universities around the world. The program leads to a bachelor's degree in the main field of media technology.
