This program prepares individuals to work as Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians in healthcare settings. The training focuses on the critical role of sterilization in medical care.

You will learn how to clean, disinfect, and sterilize reusable medical equipment using science-based methods. The curriculum includes microbiology, infection control, surgical instrument handling, and regulatory standards. Instruction combines online lectures with in-person sessions to build technical and professional skills.

The program includes a 400-hour practicum completed over 12 weeks in a real healthcare setting. Placements are assigned across Alberta and require travel and accommodation costs. Students must meet health and safety requirements before starting the placement. Graduates are eligible to write industry certification exams.
