Medical Laboratory Technology

Students perform complex procedures and tests on human specimens in clinical and laboratory settings. They gain hands-on experience through lab work and clinical practicums in hospitals and labs across Saskatchewan. The program includes classroom theory, practical labs, and real-world clinical placements. Students work with blood, urine, and other biological samples while following strict safety and hygiene protocols.

Focus areas include clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, histotechnology, immunology, transfusion science.

Two-and-a-half-year advanced diploma program with 31 weeks of clinical practicum, including nine weeks in year one and 22 weeks in year three. Includes classroom theory, lab work, and clinical placements.

Graduates work as medical laboratory technologists in hospitals, clinics, research labs, and public health agencies.

Grade 12 with minimum 70% in English Language Arts 30, Foundations of Math 30, Pre-Calculus 30, Chemistry 30, and Biology 30. International students must meet English language requirements. Applicants must provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, immunization records, N95 mask testing, WHMIS certification, and TLR® or SMART® certification.
