This program trains students to become physicians through a structured progression from basic medical sciences to supervised clinical practice. The early curriculum covers anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and pharmacology, establishing the scientific foundation needed to understand disease and treatment. Students then move into clinical training across major specialties, including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology, working directly with patients under the supervision of experienced clinicians in hospital settings. Throughout the program, students develop diagnostic reasoning, patient communication, and practical clinical skills alongside an understanding of medical ethics and professional responsibility. The curriculum is designed to build competence progressively, ensuring students are prepared for the demands of clinical practice before graduation. Graduates generally continue into residency or specialized postgraduate training to practice in a chosen medical field. This bachelor program runs for 6 years and is taught in English at Ondokuz Mayıs University, a state institution located in Samsun, Turkey. The program's length reflects the extensive scientific and clinical preparation required to practice medicine responsibly and competently.
