Medicine is the discipline concerned with diagnosing, treating, and preventing illness and injury in patients. Coursework typically progresses from basic sciences such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology through clinical training in areas including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics, and psychiatry, combining lecture-based study with supervised clinical practice in hospital settings. Students develop diagnostic reasoning, patient communication skills, and hands-on clinical competencies needed to assess and manage a wide range of health conditions. Graduates pursue careers as physicians, typically continuing into postgraduate residency training in a chosen specialty, and may go on to work in hospitals, clinics, research institutions, or public health organizations. The field also connects with areas such as biomedical research and public health, where medical training supports work beyond direct patient care. This bachelor's program is taught in English over 6 years at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University, located in İstanbul, Turkey. The English-medium curriculum allows students to build medical terminology and clinical communication skills in English while progressing through the six-year course of study. İstanbul, Turkey's largest city, hosts the faculty delivering this program, giving students exposure to clinical training environments throughout their studies toward the degree.
