Medicine trains students in the science and practice of diagnosing, treating, and preventing disease, covering foundational subjects such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and pathology before progressing into clinical training across major medical specialties. Early coursework builds a scientific base in human biology, while later years emphasize clinical reasoning, patient examination, and hands-on training in hospital and clinical settings under supervision. Students study a wide range of body systems and disease processes, along with public health and medical ethics. Clinical rotations expose students to different specialties, helping them understand the practical demands of patient care. Graduates pursue further postgraduate training toward becoming licensed physicians, along with related paths in medical research, public health, and academic medicine. This bachelor program runs 6 years and is taught in English at Altınbaş University in İstanbul, Turkey, reflecting the extended structure of medical education combining preclinical science with clinical practice. The English-medium format allows international students to pursue a medical degree while training in a Turkish academic and hospital environment in İstanbul. The six-year duration provides the extensive time required to cover both foundational science and supervised clinical experience central to medical training.
