Medicine trains students in the science and practice of diagnosing, treating, and preventing human disease, combining rigorous biological science with extensive supervised clinical training. Early years of the curriculum typically cover anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, histology, and microbiology, establishing the scientific understanding of how the human body functions. Later years shift toward clinical disciplines such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and psychiatry, taught through a combination of lectures, laboratory sessions, and clinical rotations in hospitals and clinics. As students advance, they take on increasing direct contact with patients under supervision, developing the diagnostic reasoning and procedural skills central to clinical practice. Graduates proceed to further postgraduate training and licensing requirements before practicing as physicians, often specializing in fields such as internal medicine, surgery, or another medical specialty. Some pursue careers in medical research, public health, or academic medicine instead of, or alongside, direct clinical practice. This bachelor's degree in Medicine is offered by Atatürk University, located in the city of Erzurum, Turkey. The program is taught in English and runs for 6 years, reflecting the extended combination of scientific and clinical training medical education requires. Studying in English at a Turkish university allows international students to complete a full medical curriculum without needing Turkish-language proficiency in advance.
