About Bachelor in Midwifery, BMid (Hons)

Half the teaching on Swansea's BMid Midwifery takes place at the university and half in practice placements, working with midwives in community-based teams, midwifery-led birth centres, and hospital maternity units. The nearest maternity hospital sits next to the Singleton Park campus on the edge of the Gower Peninsula, and the course is designed to meet Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) standards of proficiency.

Students can take part in antenatal education, post-natal, and breastfeeding support activities through the on-campus Health and Wellbeing Academy. Starting salary is around £28,407, rising to £68,525 for a midwife consultant, and students who commit to working in Wales for two years after graduating can have tuition fees covered in full through the NHS Wales Bursary Scheme, plus maintenance funding of up to £4,491.
