At De Montfort University, tuition costs 16,750 GBP per year.

At the heart of this programme is an established, student-led breastfeeding clinic, providing a practical environment where you integrate theoretical knowledge with hands-on support for new families, guided by lecturers who are practicing midwives. The curriculum is uniquely structured through a block teaching approach, ensuring an immersive learning experience that balances intensive academic study with clinical placements.

Clinical Integration and Professional Identity

This degree is designed to prepare you for the multifaceted role of the 21st-century midwife, who acts as the lead professional in maternity care. You will be trained to provide holistic, one-to-one care that respects the individual needs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds of women and birthing people. The course places a heavy emphasis on the 'with woman' philosophy, ensuring that graduates are not only clinically proficient in physiological birth but also equipped to navigate complex medical, obstetric, and social care pathways. By bridging the gap between clinical excellence and compassionate support, you will develop the autonomy and accountability required to thrive within multidisciplinary NHS teams.
