Students complete two academic terms of study focused on advanced engineering topics not typically covered in technology programs. They attend 25 to 28 hours of classes per week with weekly homework and exam periods. The program prepares students to enter the third year of the Bachelor of Applied Science degree at UBC Vancouver. An optional internship work term is available from May to August after the academic terms.

High school transcripts and postsecondary transcripts required. A diploma in Mining Engineering Technology from a TAC-accredited program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.0 (B) and no course below a C grade. For diplomas older than 5 years, a Letter of Intent outlining work experience or professional development is required.
