At the heart of the MSc Midwifery programme is a commitment to the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative standards, ensuring that graduates are equipped to provide evidence-based, compassionate care from the very start of a child's life. This pre-registration Master’s degree is specifically tailored for graduates who wish to transition into the midwifery profession, offering a rigorous academic pathway that integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on clinical experience.

Clinical Excellence and Simulation

Students divide their time equally between classroom-based learning and clinical placements within NHS trusts across Berkshire, such as the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. The programme leverages the university's UWLFlex learning platform and sophisticated simulation-based activities to prepare students for the realities of the maternity continuum. Whether you are navigating the complexities of emergency childbirth or providing routine antenatal support, the course emphasizes leadership, interdisciplinary teamwork, and the ability to manage both normal physiological processes and high-risk complications effectively. By the end of the three-year programme, you will be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), ready to practice as a confident, autonomous midwife.
