Master in Molecular Biotechnology

Molecular Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University in Kraków is a second-cycle, full-time master's program taught entirely in English over two years across four semesters, with yearly tuition of 17,000 PLN. The program was created with foreign students in mind and encompasses compulsory and elective courses focused on broadening knowledge of the molecular basis of modern biotechnology, with an emphasis on practical uses of that knowledge in areas such as human health, industry, and environmental sciences. The main block of compulsory courses builds theoretical knowledge and practical skills in molecular biotechnology, genetic engineering, biochemistry, cell biology, medical biotechnology, plant biotechnology, the application of biotechnology in environmental protection, and bioinformatics. Students also attend courses on practical and philosophical problems of science and on the protection of industrial property and copyright laws, alongside elective courses chosen according to their own academic interests. The program places emphasis on developing practical skills: students attend a Laboratory Practice course within a chosen science team of the Faculty and carry out a research project, developing and broadening their range of advanced research techniques and tools used in biochemistry, cell biology, genetic engineering, and microbiology.
