The iMOS programme at Ruhr-Universität Bochum is a research-oriented, interdisciplinary Master of Science in the fields of molecular and physical chemistry, biochemistry, and physics, run by the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The programme develops skills in both theoretical and practical spectroscopy and molecular simulation, training students to apply molecular biophysics and chemistry across scales from the nanoscopic to the macroscopic. The curriculum spans 4 semesters. The first two semesters cover core modules in dynamics and simulation, concepts of spectroscopy, molecular chemistry, and quantum mechanics, with practical components included in many modules. Students select from a set of elective courses, three of which are required for graduation. The third semester is devoted to a focal point practical in a chosen research group and a three-month international course at a partner institution abroad. The fourth semester is reserved for the Master's thesis. Student groups are capped at 20, and the programme is embedded in a national cluster of excellence for solvation science. A fast-track option is available for outstanding students who hold a Bachelor's degree, allowing co-enrolment in the iGSS or GSCB doctoral programme. The programme starts in the winter semester. The programme is offered by the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Bochum, Germany.
