A distinctive feature of the programme is the 60-credit placement module in the second year, which can be undertaken as a twelve-month industry placement or as three employer-led projects with UK organisations such as Apple, IBM and BT. The placement sits within the Norwich Research Park, giving direct contact with global technology partners and allowing you to apply AI techniques to sectors like healthcare and renewable energy.

Throughout the taught year you will attend lectures, seminars and hands-on lab sessions that cover Python programming, advanced AI algorithms and professional skills. Weekly work includes developing code in industry-standard frameworks, completing the Employability Skills module and preparing a dissertation proposal. The curriculum blends compulsory modules – Advanced Artificial Intelligence, Professional Skills for Computer Scientists, Dissertation and Placement Preparation – with a choice of optional modules ranging from Data Mining to Computer Vision.
