About Master in MSc Battery Science and Technology in Engineering

For Master in MSc Battery Science and Technology in Engineering, applications close 15 July.

The Master's programme in Battery Science and Technology in Engineering at RWTH Aachen University is an interdisciplinary programme that draws on electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, materials science, computer science, and mathematics. It trains students to engage with battery applications, research, and technology development across the full value chain, from battery cell and pack manufacturing to battery management in grid, transport, and energy supply contexts. The programme runs over 4 semesters and begins in the winter semester. Course content and examinations are delivered digitally, giving students flexibility over their pace and module sequencing; a minimum of five examination slots per semester supports this model. Two levelling courses must be completed in the first semester. Research Labs, which are 14-week practical courses with one-to-one supervision in affiliated institutes, take place in the second half of the first, second, and third semesters. A compulsory internship on battery testing and a seminar are scheduled in the second semester. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis. Students select from a range of elective courses and choose the subject area for their Research Lab. Graduates are prepared for careers in battery production, vehicle and railway manufacturing, and the management of storage systems, and the programme provides a pathway toward doctoral study in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or materials science. The programme is offered at RWTH Aachen University in Aachen, Germany.
