The programme draws on a large Data Science and Artificial Intelligence research group that has produced recognised techniques in data mining, knowledge discovery and clustering, and collaborates with organisations such as BBSRC, EPSRC, Aviva and National Air Traffic Services.

Graduates move into roles such as data scientist, data analyst, business intelligence analyst or data miner in sectors ranging from finance and healthcare to telecommunications, often joining leading firms or pursuing further research.

The MSc is taught full-time over one year, with a part-time route of two to three years. An optional placement year adds a second year where students undertake a UK industry placement or three employer-led projects, followed by the dissertation in the final semester.
