The MSc is delivered over a single academic year. The first term focuses on taught modules covering the drug-discovery pipeline, synthesis, biological evaluation and research planning, while the second term is dedicated to a six-month laboratory research project. Successful completion provides the knowledge and practical expertise sought by pharmaceutical companies, research institutes and the NHS, and also prepares graduates for further PhD study.

The course draws on the resources of the Norwich Research Park, giving students access to modern laboratories and leading researchers. Teaching combines lectures, workshops and hands-on experiments, and develops transferable skills such as scientific writing, data presentation and project management.
