The MSc Interdisciplinary Neuroscience (INS) at Goethe University Frankfurt is a four-semester research-oriented programme starting in the winter semester. It covers basic neuroscience, clinical neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, and computational neuroscience, progressing from molecular biology to systems-level neural function. The programme begins with a six-week introductory module in Basic Methods in Neuroscience, providing grounding in cell and molecular biology, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, MATLAB, and statistics, as well as legal and ethical aspects of animal experimentation. Students then complete three elective lab work modules, each lasting four to five weeks, during the first year, alongside lectures, journal clubs, and a weekend seminar. The second year focuses on preparation for laboratory research, analysis of scientific literature, and methodological training, leading to a master's thesis that must be completed within six months. An optional track in clinical neuroscience includes training in neuropathology and aspects of neurology. The programme is offered at Goethe University Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
