This four-year PhD project focuses on the transformation of rice husk agricultural waste into advanced biomass-derived nanomaterials for phase-change thermal management. By leveraging the unique silica and lignin components of rice husk, researchers will design hybrid nanoparticles with tunable properties to serve as encapsulation shells for wax-based phase change materials. The work aims to achieve high latent heat storage, superior shape stability, and controlled thermal conductivity, directly supporting energy decarbonisation efforts in the transport and construction sectors.
