    About Organismic and Molecular Biodiversity

At Dresden University of Technology, tuition is No tuition fees; 340 EUR/semester, and applications are due 15 Jul.

The Master's in Organismic and Molecular Biodiversity at Dresden University of Technology, offered in partnership with Senckenberg, addresses both organism-level and molecular dimensions of biodiversity research. The programme responds to a recognised gap between the growing demand for biodiversity expertise and the supply of trained scientists. Compulsory core modules include Systematics and Evolution of Plants, Fungi and Animals; Applied Ecology; Basic Molecular Approaches in Biodiversity Research; and Collecting and Analysing Biodiversity Data. Students then choose one of three specialisations. Species Diversity and Natural-History Collections focuses on a broad range of taxa, their ecology, treatment in museum collections, and the communication of biodiversity topics to society. Evolution of Functional Biodiversity examines the structural diversity of organisms including palaeontological aspects, with links to bionics applications in technology, architecture, and design. Molecular Biodiversity teaches modern molecular and cytogenetic techniques for tracing evolution, domestication, and conservation. Additional elective courses are available across all three specialisations. The programme spans 4 semesters, starting in the winter semester. Teaching takes place across Görlitz, Dresden, and Zittau. Graduates are equipped for work in a variety of fields due to the combination of collection-based and applied research. The programme is offered by Dresden University of Technology and hosted primarily in Görlitz, Germany.
