PhD Programme in Data Science (PDS)

Tuition is No tuition fees; 460 EUR/semester, and applications are due Any time.

The PhD programme in Data Science (PDS) at the University of Göttingen addresses doctoral candidates working in data science broadly defined, from mathematical and computational foundations through empirical applications to the societal implications of data-driven methods. The programme is part of the Georg-August University School of Science (GAUSS), which sets the general regulations for PhDs in natural sciences, with a dedicated appendix covering data science specifics. PDS is hosted by the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS), and enrolled students automatically become members of CIDAS. Students begin working on their thesis topic directly upon admission, typically completing the dissertation within three years. Progress is reviewed by a thesis committee at least once annually. Over the course of the programme, students are expected to contribute to the scientific community through activities such as publishing conference papers and organising lectures. A list of potential supervisors is maintained by the university. Applications are accepted at any time. The programme is located at the University of Göttingen in Göttingen, Germany.
