PhD Programme in Mathematical Sciences

For PhD Programme in Mathematical Sciences, tuition is No tuition fees; 460 EUR/semester.

The PhD programme in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Göttingen trains doctoral candidates to conduct independent research in pure and applied mathematics, with an emphasis on the interaction between mathematics and its applications in areas such as data science, mathematical physics, and economathematics. The programme is part of the Georg-August University School of Science (GAUSS) and is associated with the research training group in Fourier Analysis and Spectral Theory and the collaborative research centre Mathematics of Experiment. Candidates benefit from an active visitor programme and support for international research stays. The curriculum combines research-based teaching with interdisciplinary projects and includes development of soft skills to support professional independence. Part-time study is possible. Applications may be submitted at any time. Students from universities of applied sciences or Berufsakademie, and exceptionally qualified holders of a Bachelor's degree, may also apply, though they may be required to complete a two-semester qualification period before formal admission to the doctoral programme. The programme is offered at the University of Göttingen in Göttingen, Germany.
