With a teaching heritage spanning over 90 years, the Philosophy department at the University of Hull fosters an environment where students do not merely study the history of ideas, but actively engage in the craft of philosophical inquiry. The programme is designed for those who find intellectual satisfaction in questioning the status quo, challenging assumptions, and digging beneath the surface of complex contemporary issues.

Students are encouraged to develop their own voice through rigorous debate on topics ranging from ethics, free will, and consciousness to modern-day challenges like artificial intelligence, gender dynamics, and climate change. A distinctive feature of this degree is the integration of the internationally accredited Peer-Assisted Student Success (PASS) scheme, which allows undergraduates to train as mentors, providing leadership experience by facilitating discussions for other year groups.
