    About the Program

Graduates of this PhD may go on to work in academia, museums, or arts organisations. The project focuses on the complex relationship between photography, landscape, and trauma. The School of Art & Design at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), established in 1843, is one of the country’s leading art and design schools. The research will examine how photography represents and shapes memories of trauma, aligning with the work of authors such as Baer, Azoulay, Linfield, and Iversen. Candidates can pursue a traditional PhD by thesis or a practice-based PhD by thesis combined with a substantial body of practice. Successful applicants will join the Creative Practices, Methods and Analysis (CPMA) research cluster. Dr. Marco Bohr and Dr. Katja Hock will supervise the project.
