University of Wroclaw

Master in Physics and astronomy

Wrocław, Poland Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The University of Wroclaw offers a two-year Astrophysics master's program within its Physics and Astronomy field of study, taught in English. The program combines physics and astronomy to examine questions about the universe, giving students a grounding in celestial phenomena alongside advanced analytical and computational skills. Combining theoretical coursework with hands-on experience, the program aims to prepare graduates for research work as well as careers spanning academia, technology, and industry. The curriculum mixes mandatory core courses with a range of electives, letting students shape their own learning path. Students build foundational knowledge in astrophysics, computational simulation, and data analysis, while also mastering observational techniques used in current research. Two specialized tracks are offered: ASTROphysics, an astronomy-oriented track focused on observational astronomy and celestial mechanics, and astroPHYSICS, a theoretical physics track emphasizing cosmology, gravitation, and astrophysical modeling. Students engage in real-world research on topics such as black holes, gravitational waves, heliophysics, and astroparticle physics, working alongside international faculty and gaining experience in both observational and theoretical methods. Alongside mathematical modeling and problem-solving, the program builds skills valued across a range of technology-driven industries. The program starts on October 1, 2026, with an application deadline of August 31, 2026. Wrocław, home to the University of Wroclaw, has an established physics and astronomy research community. The two-track structure lets students lean toward observational work or theoretical modeling depending on their interests, while still sharing a common core in physics and astronomy fundamentals.
