Master in Physics

Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa offers a Physics master's program with a specialty in Nanophysics and Nanomaterials, running four semesters over two years and taught in English. The second-degree Physics curriculum is built to give students an expanded knowledge of physics grounded in mathematics and the natural sciences, together with knowledge specific to their chosen specialty. The program develops students' ability to understand and accurately describe physical phenomena and to use modern measuring apparatus and technical diagnostic systems, alongside skills for collecting, processing, and transferring information in the natural sciences, particularly physical and technical sciences. Graduates are also prepared to continue into third-degree, or doctoral, studies. The Nanophysics and Nanomaterials specialty is run as an international program taught in Polish and English, and it leads to a diploma from the University of Le Mans in France in addition to the Jan Dlugosz University qualification. Coursework focuses on topics including the physics of semiconductor materials, the physics of magnetic materials, the interaction of radiation with matter, spectroscopic methods, nanophysics, the physics of composite materials, numerical modeling of solids, and microsensors. Alongside lectures and seminars, students take laboratory classes covering the basic methods used to produce and test materials at the nanometric scale. Under the agreement between Jan Dlugosz University and the University of Le Mans, students on this specialty are enrolled at both institutions and graduate with two diplomas. Częstochowa is a city in southern Poland, and this program offers students a route into materials-focused physics research with an international academic component built directly into the degree.
