This program trains individuals to work as power and process operators in Alberta's energy sector. Students learn to operate, monitor, and fix power plant systems safely. Training covers oil and gas, hydrogen, and wind energy. Skills include renewable energy systems, automation, and technical safety standards.

The two-year in-person program includes classroom learning, lab sessions, and industry-standard simulations. A capstone project in the final term applies knowledge to real energy challenges. Graduates earn 4th Class Power Engineering certification and can pursue 3rd Class certification. Students use diesel engines, hydraulics, power shift transmissions, and other heavy equipment from construction, transportation, and energy industries.

A high school diploma is required with minimum grades in Math 30-1 or 30-2, English 30-1 or 30-2, and Physics 20. International students must show English proficiency with IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 86. Starting without an employer is allowed, but securing one is needed to complete on-the-job training hours. The program does not qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.
