Certificate

This program prepares students for 3rd or 4th Class Power Engineering certification through self-paced online study. It is designed for working professionals and independent learners who need flexibility in their schedule. Students complete coursework using Moodle and receive virtual support from instructors via Microsoft Teams on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The curriculum covers power engineering fundamentals, plant safety, boiler systems, mechanical equipment, and electrical theory. Students use online simulation tools and study applied science, steam generation, and prime movers. They gain skills to operate and maintain industrial systems used in power plants, oil and gas facilities, manufacturing sites, hospitals, and schools.

Final exams must be taken in person or through an approved online proctor. Students pay testing fees and submit an Exam Invigilation Consent Form if taking exams off-campus. Completion leads to eligibility for ABSA Part A and B certification exams.
