About Psychiatric Nursing

Students complete theoretical courses, simulated labs, and clinical practice education components. They gain hands-on experience in mental health settings and perform nursing skills such as IV initiation and wound care. The program prepares students to work as registered psychiatric nurses in diverse healthcare environments. Faculty guide students in linking theory with practice through supervised clinical experiences.

Two-and-a-half years; 143 credits; 2,145 hours of clinical practice education; includes face-to-face labs and virtual courses.

Graduates work as registered psychiatric nurses in hospitals, long-term care, community mental health, home care, and correctional institutions.

Grade 12 with minimum 70% in English Language Arts 30, Math 30, Biology 30, Chemistry 30; minimum 18 years old by December 31 of admission year; English language requirement applies; criminal record check and vulnerable sector search required; first aid and CPR certification required; N95 mask fit testing and other certifications required.

On-campus; full-time; three years including four-month final clinical term.
