Psychology examines mental processes and behavior through both theoretical study and empirical research. Students typically progress through coursework in developmental, cognitive, social, and clinical psychology, alongside training in research design, statistics, and psychological testing. Students often complete supervised coursework or projects involving observation, survey design, or experimental methods. Career paths include roles in counseling support, human resources, education, research assistance, and social work, with many graduates continuing to postgraduate study to qualify as licensed psychologists.
