Psychology examines human behavior, cognition, and emotion, covering areas such as developmental psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, abnormal psychology, and research methods. Students typically study statistics and experimental design alongside courses on personality theory, learning and memory, and psychological assessment, developing skills in reading and conducting research on human mental processes. Many programs include practical components such as observation exercises, case studies, or supervised practicum placements that introduce students to counseling and assessment techniques. Coursework builds a foundation for understanding how psychological principles apply to clinical, educational, organizational, and social settings. Career paths for graduates include roles in human resources, market research, social services, counseling support, and further postgraduate study leading to clinical or counseling licensure, with employment across healthcare, education, business, and nonprofit organizations. This bachelor's program spans 4 years and is taught in English at Istanbul Okan University in İstanbul, Turkey, providing a broad grounding in psychological science for students planning further specialization.
